I am without healthcare. I explained this before making an appointment and said I could pay no more than $300 because of my circumstances. I was told by Ochsner medical in uptown to go to a dermatologist to have an infected keloid removed. Oschner had me on antibiotics. I HAD AN INFECTION. The doctor at NOLA dermatology didn't believe a word I had to say. He wanted to do a series of injections over 6 weeks that I could not afford. I was told my total costs for the appointment and procedures would be $300. I paid in full up front. Regardless, I keep receiving additional bills in the mail for services I was told I already paid for in person. Those bills have made my total cost add up to half a grand. Again, my medical issue is UNRESOLVED. The lack of financial transparency and the accounting incompetence of NOLA dermatology is astounding (I have been repeatedly been told by corporate that the Magazine street accountant must have made a mistake in my billing ((unacceptable for an "honest" business)) ). I'm convinced this "incompetence" is a disguise for intentional charges NOLA dermatology did not want to tell me about because they knew I would have walked out if my bill was over $300. Oschner medical would have taken care of it for $200 but of course a licensed dermatologist would be better equipped to handle an issue within their field. I was wrong. Stop leeching on the poor.
