I had just turned 18 a few months before and had gotten a really bad inflamed and twisted colon one day and eventually went to the doctor. They studied me and found out I was born with an abnormally large colon and it was pushing up into my rib cage almost near my heart about to rupture. The doctors found this just in time and we had an emergency surgery. The staff was so nice to me and reassured me in my fear of surgery since I had never had one before. I hadn’t even needed to go to a hospital since I was a baby. I was really scared. The only thing I didn’t like about the place was this one woman who had drawn my blood before I was given pain meds. She didn’t seem to understand that my body was in intense pain and my veins were pressured and burst because of the tension from the pain, yet she kept on sticking me and leaving blood everywhere along my arms and the floor and the hospital bed. She cleaned my arms when she finally found a place but left the rest of the blood to just sit there. My bfs grandmas eventually had to clean it up herself because it was so much. A very disappointing moment to see. They eventually gave me morphine because I couldn’t move at all without screaming out and that was a blessing. I had a nice bonding moment with the woman who scanned me and we laughed together as we looked at my innards. The staff other than that one lady were very nice and I would go there again for surgery. My surgeon was very passionate and she checked on me every morning to check my staples and this one lady noticed I would only eat ice cream and orange juice (the other fluids almost made me throw up) and she snuck in more ice cream for me and I was so grateful. The experience after surgery was good and this one woman checked in on me a lot and helped me bath when I couldn’t do it and she gave me advice about things post surgery as well. She had to leave though and I had to bath myself with an iv in my hand and it was uncomfortable. But no pain no gain. All went well with my surgery and I didn’t even get an infection or any side effects at all! I healed very quickly after my colon removal and all I have to deal with now is a huge scar from my lady parts to my chest! It’s okay though. These people took care of me when I almost died. ❤️
